Pharaohs and sheep...

The Faroe Islands are a group of mystical islands located around three hundred kilometers north of Scotland. Known for its picturesque beauty and the abundance of sheep it is a wonderful place to visit.

In 2016 I was fortunate enough to play a few concerts there, and I was really fascinated by the beautiful nature and people I met during my stay. There is a huge variety of scenery on the islands and exploring the different parts was both interesting and inspiring.

About a year ago I was contacted by a man named Kristian Blak. Kristian is a Faroese composer and musician who is responsible for booking allot of the artists that visit. He asked me if I wanted to come to the Faroe Islands and play a few concerts with some local musicians. I of course said yes and next week I will once again be visiting this beautiful place.

The band for the project consists of:

Kim Kristensen (DK) - piano

Arnold Ludvig (FO) - bass

Rógvi á Rógvu (FO) - drums

We will be playing music composed by the members of the ensemble. I am really looking forward to playing with these guys and I am positive that it will be a very fun and fruitful experience. I am also very thankful to Sørnorsk Jazzsenter who have contributed to making the project happen.

Here is a picture of one of the many sheep I met during my last visit. Stay tuned for more!

Photos 1,2 & 3 were taken in 2016 during my last visit.
