Mathias Hagen is a saxophonist and composer from Norway. He started with music at an early age and discovered the saxophone through the local marching band when he was nine. In his youth, he and his family lived in Nepal for five years, and during this time he was introduced to jazz, attending the Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory. Returning to Norway he continued persuing music at Vågsbygd VGS and Toneheim Folkehøgskole. He went on to study a bachelor in music performance at the Institute of Music and Dance in Stavanger and is currently studying a masters in performance and composition at The Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg, Sweden. Mathias has contributed to a wide range of projects and has been an active freelancer since 2009.
